  • Strong terminal tackle: Hooks, weights, and swivels made for tough bottom strikes and snags.
  • Premium braided line: High strength, zero memory, and sensitivity — ideal for catfish rigs.
  • Reliable landing nets: Broken Twig nets designed to land big cats safely and efficiently.
  • Essential line cutters: Tools that slice heavy braid and mono cleanly for fast rigging.

Catfish Gear FAQs

For catfish, a medium-heavy to heavy power rod (7–9 ft) with a reel capable of 200+ yards of 30–50 lb line is ideal. This setup handles strong runs and tough cover.

Yes. Braided line offers high strength, no stretch, and excellent sensitivity — perfect for pulling fish out of cover and detecting subtle bites.

It depends on current and depth. Use heavier sinkers (1–4 oz) in fast water and lighter weights in slow water. Carolina rigs, slip sinkers, and bottom rigs are most common.

Many anglers add a short mono or fluoro leader (18–36") for abrasion resistance and stealth, especially near rocks, timber, or other cover.

Use a sturdy landing net or lip gripper, keep tension on the line, and support the fish’s body when lifting. Never lift trophy catfish by the line alone.
